The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) has begun a training program to make its traffic police personnel polite and courteous to the general public. According to MTPD, the six-day training program will focus on human rights, good service, government regulations and human psychology.
The MTPD decided to conduct the training program after receiving complaints about the behavior of traffic police personnel across the valley. The MTPD has also rolled out its ‘service with a smile’ program to provide better service to the general public. Many traffic violators have complained that traffic police personnel abuse them verbally during routine traffic checking.
The MTPD has recently begun punching the license of traffic rule violators. If a violator’s license is punched five times then his or her license is cancelled. A violator’s license is punched if caught driving under the influence of alcohol. The MTPD’s aggressive anti drunk driving campaign has managed to reduce the traffic fatalities in the valley.
