The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has made a provision to disseminate information for alertness in the flood-affected areas across the country. The information flow effective from Monday will be available for people living in the surrounding of the Kankai, Mechi, Narayani, Bagmati, Babai, Bheri, Karnali and Mahakali rivers. Any likelihood of risk to the population will be informed immediately. Soon after water level rises to the risk zone in the rivers, information will be passed through Nepal Telecom and Ncell companies to remain alert and move to safer locations. “The new information system has been developed in order to minimize the extent of damage caused to life and property in the flood affected areas”, said Director General of the Department Dr Rishiram Sharma. There are four kinds of information to be disseminated based on the level of risk.
